| The 2002-2003 Technology Teachers of the Year are Yolanda M. Garza and Vickie A. Roge.
Mrs. Garza is a computer literacy teacher at Morris Middle School. She has been teaching for 18 years. In Mrs. Garza’s class, students create:
- newsletters about school events.
- mini-biographies using digital cameras and a word processor.
- multimedia presentations about our solar system using HyperStudio.
- digital video using iMovie.
- databases to store addresses of friends, students, and relatives.
- student's personal web page.
Outside of the classroom Mrs. Garza is a:
- member of an on-line cohort, sponsored by the University of North Texas, Voyager University (upon completion will receive Computer Application certification).
- Campus Technology Facilitator (CTF).
- member of the eChalk Leadership Team.
- member of the Campus Technology Committee.
Mrs. Garza has also provided many technology-related trainings to Morris Middle School faculty. Mrs. Garza is highly respected by both students and staff. She is committed to providing high quality educational experiences through the use of technology. |
